NASCAR Contest Story - Buck Baker
Buck Baker started absent as a bus chauffeur in Charlotte, NC and attended his anterior inventory machine chase with hopes of racing himself. He figured he had been driving for some extent already, and the guys on the track were all going in the alike direction...how consolidated could it be?
He was a cramped intimidated however, when he entered his beginning competition in Greenville, SC. Needless to say, a tire came off of his van and he was gone of the race. "I was fortunate I got it off the track." he recalled.
Baker's racing profession spans over four decades. He's a member of 7 racing Chamber of Fames, and was voted one of the 50 greatest drivers of NASCAR. He was the inceptive to killing two Grand Governmental (now Nextel Cup) Championships back-to-back. Baker very was a three-time winner of the Southern 500 at Darlington. His 682 NASCAR starts status him third all-time and his 46 victories station him 10th.
In 1980 Baker developed the Buck Baker Racing School. He adage a longing to educate inevitable drivers the techniques needed to compete. He developed the curiculum himself, which has led to the ascendancy of some of his noted students such as four-time Nextel Mug Champion, Jeff Gordon; 2002 Nextel Cup Champion, Tony Stewart; and 2002 Nextel Cup Rookie of the Year, Ryan Newman. His sonny Buddy, a 34-year Winston Cup veteran instantly teaches at the institute along with his sister, Susie. Buck's wife Susan is the president. Buck Baker considered the college one of his proudest achievements.
